A Tale of Two Mamas

Trying to keep someone IN timeout

The time has come…

and I must start thinking about swimsuits and what my big butt is going to look like in one this upcoming summer!

With that in mind I can’t just sit back and wait for these unwanted pounds to melt away. I think I’m really going to try and watch what I eat and move a little bit more!

Mind you I’m still on the “nursing diet” and I need to take full advantage of that! In fact, with pumping for the milk bank and feeding lil’ Emmy I should be dropping many pounds a day!

Happy Halloween

Just a second…

to post a few quick photos!

Graem was sick yesterday with allergies and asthma. We went to the doctor and they gave her a flu shot. This morning she woke up and was running a 101 degree fever!

Another day of no school for Grammy which means both kids are at home ! Yikes!

Grammy’s Chinese outfit for United Nations day at school! (Thanks Grandpa and Uncle Dennis!)

The girls posing for a photo shoot at the bug fair that we attended Saturday at Cornell.

Grammy loves to eat breakfast with her headlamp.

This was a picture that Grammy took of herself!!

The girls hanging out!

I’ve got to run — Emmy’s crawling backwards!

Calling Gordon Ramsay!

Last night we decided to go out to dinner–nothing fancy, we were craving some chicken wings, so we thought we’d pick something cheap and nearby. I will fess up right now, last night was my pick: I said, Why don’t we try Ron Don’s in Tburg, since we’d never been there, and they had cheap wings.

We got there and it was pretty packed, so we had to park across the street. It took a little while to get a table, but it seemed like everyone knew each other and the owner would come out of the kitchen often. His mom was eating there too. They gave Graem some colored pencils and activity sheets to keep her occupied.

We ordered a dozen wings–half hot and half barbecue for Grammy, a burger for Mama and some wings for me. I added a bowl of clam chowder soup to share with Graem in case she didn’t want the burger or wings. The soup came out and we put some ice in it to give to Grammy. A couple of bites in she says, “Mama, I think there’s a bug in here.” Shawna and I were bouth skeptical, because she’s thought peper was a bug before! Shawna picked it out and put it on a napkin and told Grammy it was just seasoning. After a few more bites of soup, Graem was done and passed the soup back to me. I looked in the soup and saw a few more flakes of “seasoning,” so I picked one out. IT HAD LEGS. Shawna was still in disbelief, so I picked out ANOTHER ONE. Shawna called over the waitress who whisked the bowl away and said she’d have the cook check. The cook/owner came out and said, “No, it’s seasoning.” I told Shawna “No way in hell.” Shawna finally squinted REAL HARD at the first bug on the napkin and saw the legs. Graem said, “See, I told you it was a bug, I saw legs!”

Gordon Ramsay, please come to the rescue.

Can I just say…

how awesome our little baby is?!?!

She slept from 7:45pm to 7:15am this morning!! She didn’t wake up, cry, or nurse once either.

It’s really quite shocking to see her doing so well when we put her in the crib.

Last night I nursed her up and let her cry it out in her crib for 2 minutes. Then she fell fast asleep.

I didn’t hear a peep from her until this morning!!

To say the least…Mama is a very happy camper and I’m starting to remember what getting sleep is like. My tank was just about on empty and it’s so nice to be able to sleep without getting up every hour or so for feedings.

Emmy is totally different from Graem. Graem always wanted to be snuggled and sleep close to Margot. It appears that Emmy needs a good cry before she goes to bed. Plus, she loves her space. She loves being warm in her fuzzy pajamas and sleep sack and she is able to comfort herself.

I could get used to this!!
