A Tale of Two Mamas

Trying to keep someone IN timeout

Archive for Work

Too good to be true?

We make TONS of copies at work and we are constantly having to get new toners from the office supply store.    That adds up!    Not to mention, the printers tend to break down and then we have to get a tech person to fix it or just trash it all together.

Now I’ve found a great deal where they offer Free Color Printers!  Lower your Color Printing Cost!

FreePrinters.com offers a program where they provide the color printers and even the tech support and all you have to do is purchase the supplies from them.   Of course, you’re probably wondering how much the supplies are etc…but even the supplies are sold at 30% off the retail price!

What could be better than a free printer, free service, and a great discount on printer supplies???

Borders!

Well, I’m hosting office hours at my Borders’ office today.   Fully equipped with the smell of fresh coffee, comfy couches, and free internet service!

I dropped Grammy off this morning a little late because I had a heck of a time leaving the house.   The phone kept ringing off of the hook and right as I’m getting ready to leave I notice that the dog peed on the bed over the past few days.    So I had to strip the sheets and throw them in the laundry.

Hopefully, I can stay busy here at Borders and there won’t be too many interuptions during lunchtime!

I love office supplies!

When I was a kid I used to spend all day looking at the newest office supplies catalog that my father would get in the mail.

Today, if I had the time I could sit and spend all day looking at the newest office supplies catalog!

Of course, it’s all a matter of time and money!    I see so much in there that I want for my office and realize that I don’t have enough money!

Many people have been looking for the highly popular Okidata 43034804 ink cartridges and had a hard time finding a good selection and price!   Now there’s a place that specializes in office supplies and ink cartridges - DataBazaar.com!

DataBazaar.com even has the hard to find printer cartridges that we need for our drafting machines at work.   Plus, they are about $20 less per cartridge than we’re currently paying!

Nearly impossible…

to find certain services in Tompkins County.   I have offered healthcare consulting here in upstate New York for nearly two years.    Typically, I work with older people and their families.

Just a few months ago I got a call from a family who wanted to transport their mother to a hospital in Virginia.   The hard part is that she had a broken hip and was somewhat unstable.   She was in constant pain and they didn’t know if she would even be able to drive in a handicap van.

We discussed options and I told them I’d be more than happy to help with the transport either in an airplane or even go with them via car.    We looked into hiring a private ambulance but that would have been extremely expensive, not to mention uncomfortable for the older woman.

I’ve learned to look towards online resources for options.   It’s great because since Tompkins County doesn’t offer too much in terms of options — I get some great ideas and it increases the resources I’m able to use!

I really wish I would have known about Air Ambulance Services!   This would have been the perfect option for someone who needs to be transported, is in a hospital bed, and needs medical attention.

http://www.airambulance.net offers a great website with information on how to subscribe to their services.   I have bookmarked the website because I’m sure I’ll probably need their services in the future to refer to my clients.

A great place to work!

At some point I realize that I’m going to have to go back to work.   We thought by now that I’d probably have been pregnant and popped out a kid.    Which of course, would have meant the next 4 or so years for me to stay at home.

Since, none of that has happened it’s thrown our schedule off a little.

I’m constantly looking for places that might be a good fit to work for.   I want a place that values my experience, education, and of course is an equal oppourtunity employer.

One place that has really made a great impression on me is Capella University.   They are currently listing jobs on Monster and also have their portfolio listed there.

Looking good, Capella!
