A Tale of Two Mamas

Trying to keep someone IN timeout

Archive for Things I really shouldn't talk about

Busty today…I mean busy.

Margot dropped Graem off at school today in hopes that I could sit my ass on the couch, rest up, and make much needed “bitch calls.”

First off, a call to Britax. It seems that our $269 carseat has a broken buckle. When you put the kid in and try to buckle it you can only do it if you buckle the right side first. If you try to buckle the left side first it doesn’t catch and ends up coming undone. An obvious hazard for those that don’t know the “special trick.”

The second victim, Time Warner Cable. Each year I have to call and bitch about the increase they give to our bill. Then I tell them to pound salt and take their cable and shove it. I’m then transferred to “Pat” from the retention center and she adjusts my bill for a full year. They call it a “promotion.” Thank God, I’ve been able to get Pat for the past two or so years. She remembers my account and she’s always so friendly.

This afternoon I have to run the dog to the vet and get her put on puppy prozac. This is really our last ditch effort to keep Bailey here. She’s seriously out of control and aside from her jumping off of people and barking at a leaf dropping from a tree…the peeing in the house has got to stop. (Read: Sausage factory is in her future)

You’ll also notice that I’m trying to catch up on some of my blogging efforts. I’ve let them slide over the past few days - but I’m back at the keyboard and feeling pretty good. Plus, I love seeing money instantly appear in my paypal account!

Mr. Sandman: Please return my sleep.

These days sleep is pretty hard to come by. We try to all get in bed by 10pm and half of the time I fall asleep before then on the couch or while watching television in bed.

My strategy has been to spend every other night upstairs and on the couch. However, it’s turned into me doing first shift upstairs, then after my first bathroom break (midnight) I typically make my way downstairs and move to my couchbed for the rest of the night.

Couchbed is nice because I have it set up with pillows all around and it dips a little so that I can put my belly pillow down and lie on my left side. Not to mention, it’s just steps from the bathroom.

The only thing that’s bad about couchbed is that … it’s our couch. I’ve been using it like crazy and it’s become quite flat in it’s old age and with the wear of my fat ass! I am guessing over the next year it will need to be replaced just so that we can have something comfortable to sit on without feeling the flat wood bars on our backsides.

How we all got here…

To this webpage, I mean. I get on MyBlogLog every now and then to stalk our stalkers. Yesterday’s searches (some of which are disturbing):

  • two year old crying for an hour and a half (we have one of those)
  • evaporation lines (sure, we’ll talk about these)
  • pictures of old horrible houses (we have one of these, though not technically ‘old’)
  • january 2006 stale (we probably have some of this…but we haven’t found it yet!)
  • enchilada clip art (interesting…)

And most disturbing of all:

  • po_op hole pics (I hope to god we don’t have any of these!)

I hope our pagerank goes up in any case… and that all of you out there searching for something find it. Except for the last one. That’s just gross.

Absolutely stunning.

We love going to weddings and every time we go we cry like babies!   The last wedding we went to was L&L’s and Graem was about six months old.    The brides looked beautiful and it was a very non-traditional wedding.

They both had chosen unique wedding dresses  and looked stunning when they walked down the aisle.

I really like traditional, white wedding dresses, however, I’m not sure that I’d actually choose one for myself!

I think this Maggie Sottero Wedding dress is stunning.   I like that it’s sleeveless and doesn’t have straps either.   The lace is very pretty and I like the way that it’s held together.   Plus, I think that the middle hem makes for a different and original style.

Of course, this would make for the perfect dress in the spring or summer.   I’m not quite sure what you’d wear in upstate New York during the winter months!

I’m sure TheBridalShop.com has suggestions though!   They have tons of different dresses and even dresses for Plus-Size girls like myself!

A sight for sore eyes.

Today Graem is at daycare and I have tons of blogging that I should catch up on.    I’ve already mowed the grass and tried to put our new grill together.

It was quite the sight though…I was in my pajama boxers and shirt, barefoot and under the carport.   I had to make about 20 trips to the basement to get the different tools I would need.

After I unwrapped all of the parts from the box I realized that I was missing all of the screws.    After cursing and looking for ten minutes I realized I had almost thrown them in the recycling pile.

The directions specifically said that it would take 30-45 minutes to construct.

Just so happens that it took me 35 minutes to get everything out of the box, find all of the tools, and find the damn screws.

Then the fun part starts.   I have to put the rollers on the bottom.   Not a problem.

Now putting the cart together gets a little tricky because you have to screw in screws while making sure to hold up a panel at the same time.

All I can say is … I’m glad I have long toes because they really hooked a sister up.

I finished the cart and realized that in order to put the grill on top of the stand you need two people.   So it’s all laid out in the carport and I’ll just have to wait til Margot gets home to do that part.

All in a day’s work.
