A Tale of Two Mamas

Trying to keep someone IN timeout

Archive for Product Review

Living longer and going natural.

As a family we have decided to go with more “non-toxic, natural, and less preserved items”. Last week I made a big shopping trip at Target and decided to get natural and non-toxic cleaners, furniture polish, body soap, hand soap, and even toothpaste.

I was quite disappointed that I didn’t see a natural shampoo at the store and ended up leaving Target without natural shampoo or conditioner.

When I got home, though, I was happy to see that I had been given a sample of naked naturals Awapuhi & Lavender color-treated shampoo and conditioner. In the past, I’ve always been skeptical about the different samples I’ve been given because I don’t want to put too many chemicals on my skin or around my body.

Much to my surprise I was happy to see that this shampoo and conditioner had no lauryl, sulfates, and contains natural plant proteins that make hair 7x stronger than other shampoos!

When I used the product I was instantly sold on the lather it produced and the lavender was a perfect amount without being overpowering and nauseating.

I have highlights so the color-treated shampoo and conditioner were a perfect match for my somewhat dry and brittle hair. After using the product I noticed that my hair was fuller and didn’t have the split end tangles that typically occur when I step out of the bathtub or shower.

I was also given a $1 off coupon to use on future purchases of this product!

Naked Naturals is something to get excited about and my hair has already thanked me!

A Safety Gear Review

There’s a new website out there that offers safety gear of all types.   Being new they are looking for feedback from avid bloggers like myself.

Here’s what I’m thinking:

I really like the layout and even the colors of the website.   I like the featured products and new products that are highlighted on the page.   I think there are a few ways that you could categorize the side bars.   One way is to do the way you are doing.   The other way is to actually break it up into construction, home, first aid kits, and OSHA.  Either way the side bars should be in alphabetical order.   That way it’s easy for people to search for something that they are looking for.

When I initially saw the website title, being that I’m a mother, I was expecting more on the lines of home safety:   fire alarms, radon/carbon dioxide detectors, drop latters from the second floor.   I would love to see a section that offered a kid’s safety section and offered items such as:  baby gates, oven covers, cabinent locks.

Margot would probably like the hard hats section of the website because you offer some pretty interesting and unique styles of hard hats!

When I was director of a healthcare provider OSHA was always a top priority.   It would have been nice to be able to go to one place to purchase all of our OSHA needs instead of having to look EVERYWHERE.    You might even want to include an OSHA package that organizations can purchase that might include:   Safety Goggles, First Aid Kits, Gloves, Bloodborne Bags, and other things that might be required for the specified field.

I like that DiscountSafetyGear.com offers free shipping over $100, customer service, and a 1-800 number.   Those are things that are going to get customers and keep them coming back!

I look forward to returning back to the website in the future and seeing if any of my suggestions were considered!

My review of a useful website!

I stumbled across a website that I think is pretty informative for those of you that are looking to do a student loan consolidation.     SLClowDown.com has a lot of good information about how to reduce the amount that you owe for student loans and to pay them off quicker.

The website itself seems to be in the development stages and there are probably a few things I would change about it:

1.   Add some grapics!    It’s a pretty boring website if you just look at it.    It doesn’t really draw the viewer in to read more.    The graphics can be something college related — maybe a graduate tassle or hat?    Or it can even be financial related.

2.   Don’t have so many links!   It looks a bit overwhelming to have so many links in one post.    You can’t really focus on what the main theme of the article because you’re trying to figure out what the most importanted linked information is.

3.   Categorize topics with a menu bar either to the left or right.    That way it would be easier for people to find an article that pertains to their financial needs.

Just my two cents of course…but that’s all that matters anyway, right?

Which one to choose?

We are always on the lookout for good technology.    When we buy electronics we always make sure to look at “Consumer Reports” and see what suggestions they have to make.

However, I purchased “Consumer Reports” while flying on the plane trip to the Philippines and it wasn’t the great magazine that I once remembered!

That’s why I’d have to go elsewhere to check out mp3 player reviews.    TestFreaks.com offers a great website full of product reviews.

It’s good to know that there’s another option for those of us that are let down by magazine reviews and need detailed information before making a purchased.

Take off the covers!

We have two pretty unimpressive cars.    A 2000 Honda CRV and a 2006 Toyota Matrix.   We love them both and they’ve done a good job for us.

Since we don’t have a garage to put our beloved cars under we’ve considered car covers.    A car cover might be the perfect idea for when it snows too!   You just take off the car cover and your snow is car free!

EmpireCovers.com offers a great selection of car covers at really great prices!   In fact, they are currently running an online special and you can receive 10% off of all covers.

They offer car covers starting at $25 and fast shipping using Fed-Ex.

If you’re in the market for a car cover — check this place out.    Their website is easy to use and you can order right online or call their 1-800 number.
