Trying to keep someone IN timeout

11 weeks old!

Where has the time gone?

I look at little Emmy and I see a big baby! Last week was the turning point where instead of strangers say “look at that tiny baby” they now say “your baby is so cute”.

Emmy is quite the amazing little girl. She still screams bloody murder and we can’t always figure out what’s wrong with her! One thing that we think could be causing her evening anger is the fact that she’s tired. (Go figure, right?) After she gets out of bath she screams and there’s no consoling her.

What’s funny about little E is that even after you’ve fixed the problem she doesn’t calm down. She gets so worked up that she could be crying about a crappy diaper — you change the crappy diaper and then she still cries.

Then all of a sudden (thirty minutes later) she realizes “oh yeah, I have a clean diaper” and then she stops crying.

Even though she’s Miss Grumpy Pants we still love her so much and she fills our days with sunshine.

Her peak times are in the morning. This morning she woke me up cooing. When I looked over she had a big scrunch face smile going on and it melted me.

Grammy loves to see her smile too and is constantly making faces at her. Grammy is an amazing big sister and hugs and kisses little Emm all the time. In fact, sometimes I have to remind Grammy that Emmy doesn’t like her that close to her face!

And to think that we were worried about her gaining weight?

Thank you, Aunt Linda!

I had a pleasant surprise last week when I came home. A baby gift for Little Emmy from my Aunt Linda. Enclosed was a precious bunny dress, pink robeez, and a beautiful silver bracelet.

Thanks so much!

Our little bunny loves her new outfit!

Philly, here we come!

Friday we’re heading to Philadelphia to meet up with some of my dear friends from the infertility boards on i-village.

The last time we met up was when Graem was around five months old at a restaurant in New York City. Most of the women had been trying to get pregnant for years and had done one or two invitros at the time.

Out of the group of about ten women we had a baby and another two couples had their babies. The rest were trying.

Over the years…I’m happy to say all but one of the ladies has either had a baby or adopted. In fact, a few of the women conceived naturally without reproductive assistance and there are even a set of twins in the bunch!

Since that luncheon over three years ago over eleven babies have been born! This weekend is going to be a great reunion and I’m so glad that we all have the families we have worked so hard for.

So much for…

not letting your infant sleep on the couch or surrounded with pillows and blankets…

Miss Emm has been quite the pill this morning. We did Skype with grandma earlier this morning and then she (Emmy) decided she wanted a big ole’ booby breakfast. Then she fell asleep and I tried to transfer her to the carseat.

To say the least…that didn’t work and she cried. Then she ate again and I tried to transfer her to the pack-n-play. Again, that didn’t work.

So, my latest attempt involved me nursing her on the couch and sliding her off of me (while nursing). It worked and I’ve been able to finish my housekeeping and laundry duties!

8 weeks old!

Yesterday was Emmy’s eight week old birthday. It’s really gone so fast. I wish I could freeze time and have her as a little one forever.

She’s still sleeping quite a bit during the day and she’s doing great at night too. I think what’s helping is that every night she takes a warm bath with Grammy and me. It seems to calm her down a bit and maybe adds a little bit to our nighttime routine.

The past few nights she’s been nursing later and only waking up around 4am and 7am to nurse. She’s also been sleeping in her co-sleeper which is an added bonus for me because I don’t have to worry about rolling over on her.

Emmy is a very smiley little girl and has even been giggling if you tickle her under her chin. She loves playing peek-a-boo too.
