A Tale of Two Mamas

Trying to keep someone IN timeout

I’m back!

I’ve been taking a couple of days off from posting because I just haven’t been feeling too hot.   I have all day nausea and of course many times that’s followed by a good ole’ run to the toilet.

Plus, I’ve been subbing.

Today I’m subbing elementary music and on my lunch break.

Tuesday I subbed high school math and that was a breeze because I had a student teacher that taught all of the classes!

The latest news is that our furnace has two cracks in our exchanger and so we’re in the process of not using it (since it releases carbon monoxide) and getting quotes for a new furnace.

We have two quotes that have come in so far - one for $4,000 and the other for $3,400.    YIKES.

I guess you’ll see me doing more blogging in the upcoming months!

Amazing.

We all made the trek up to Syracuse for today’s ultrasound (8 weeks and 4 days, for those of you who are counting).  We individually made our rounds to the bathroom, and when Graem and I got back to the room where Shawna was placed, the LPN informed us that we were being released to the real world.  We were both pretty sad.

Then Dr. K came in, to our surprise, to do the ultrasound.  They have one of those brand-spankin’ new 2D/3D ultrasounds, and you could tell he spent the extra time to show us all around the little one, hear his/her heartbeat (167bpm!), and see 3D video.  Shawna asked him whether he thought it was a girl or a boy, and without hesitation, Dr. K definitively stated, “It’s a girl.”  Maybe the Dalai Lama whispered a little something into his ear a few weeks back!  Graem sat on the edge of the table to watch, but was quickly bored.  We told her it was her little brother or sister.  Dr. K congratulated us again and bade us farewell, until next week.  Shocked, we were granted one more week with the fertility center!

When the lights came on, we were also pleasantly surprised to be handed the DVD of our little show!  So here it is for your enjoyment.  BTW, we love our fertility center.

Tomorrow’s the big day.

I’m getting pretty nervous about our 8 week ultrasound tomorrow.   I’ll actually be 8 weeks and 3 days!

I’m excited and scared of what we might see.    I just hope that everything is measuring right where it needs to be and the little guy’s heart has started beating a little faster!    Supposedly, he now has four chambers and it’s suppose be faster than our last ultrasound.

If he’s awake he might even be moving around.    Someone said that their baby looked like it was “humping the air”!

Hopefully, our baby will just be moving his arms and legs.

NO HUMPING.

Is this my kid?

Last night I had some pretty hot mexican salsa and chips.   It was great going down and then a few hours later it came back up along with my delcious Chinese stir-fry that Margot made last night.

I also had a pretty bad case of diarrhea this morning and attributed it to the little guy not caring for the spicy food.

I decided to take it easy for lunch today and I got the mild chicken red curry with rice.   Sure enough, after the meal I was running to the bathroom - and it was coming out both ends.

I can’t believe I have a child in me that can’t tolerate the heat!

How could this have happened?    Maybe they switched embryos on me!

8 weeks today!

Well, I can’t believe that I’m already 8 weeks pregnant!   WOW!

I did a few belly pictures last week but I must say that there’s really nothing to see except for my existing already fat belly.    So I figure when I get 12 weeks I’ll post weeks 7-12 and you can see the progression of a baby belly.

I’ve been a little sick here and there and I’m still pretty tired at night.   Last night we had all intentions of staying up for “Heros” but noone made it.    Lights were out by 8:30pm.

The good thing is … we’re all getting the sleep that our body’s need and for the most part the family is waking up more refreshed and feeling healthier!

On the flipside, Graem did not take a nap yesterday at daycare… so I don’t know if more sleep at night is going to end up cutting out her nap.
