Trying to keep someone IN timeout

Back on track…

It’s been ages since I’ve posted. I’m sorry!

We’ve been plagued with sickness and for once we’re all feeling better! *knock on wood*

Not much to report other than:

* Emmy’s crawling - we spend all of our time chasing her and keeping her out of trouble.
* Our house is on the market and *not* selling
* We’re looking at houses that are ugly.
* We want to buy land and build a new house but it’s pretty risky and we don’t know what in the hell we’re doing.
* I’m taking the kids to H-town to hang out with the ‘rents for Spring Break
* I’m a year older and my body feels it!

Here are some pictures over the past month or so.

Emmy’s first trip to the ER

So Shawna and Emmy are at the ER as I write. Last night Emmy came down with a pretty nasty fever of 103.6. We treated it round the clock with ibuprofen and/or tylenol, and the pediatrician said to give another call if it didn’t go away within 24 hours. This afternoon we checked her temp again, and it was 104.3, so we gave the doc another call. This pede (different one) said we should go to the ER to get her checked out. Poor little girl was sluggish and listless–not her usual feisty self. We had dosed her with tylenol since she wasn’t quite due for the ibuprofen yet, and went to the hospital. Thank goodness Alex and Dom were here to watch Graem while Shawna and I took Em in. There was a line of people, and a high percentage of sick kids–not to mention a couple of car accidents.

It took us a while to get in, but they decided to give Em IV fluids and take her blood for tests. What a mess–there’s only one nurse who can handle infant IVs, Rosie, and thankfully she was there. In spite of that, the IV catheter slipped out nearly all the way, and poor Em was screaming bloody murder. I thought Shawna was going to pass out! Finally they got it all straightened out, and were able to get 360mL of fluid in. Emmy fell right asleep while nursing.

Gotta cut this short, as I’m heading back to the ER with reinforcements–change of clothes for everyone, in case they spend the night, plus diapers and wipes.

Christmas video!

I’m checking out a new video site, Vimeo. If this post works, this is a video of Graem discovering her “big gift” from Santa:

’tis the season…

to post some cute pictures of the kids!

Tonight we went to eat Chinese food and Emmy absolutely loved the noodles! We couldn’t get them to her fast enough and if we took more than two seconds to give her the next bite she’d start grunting.

She ended up eating SO much and between her and Grammy they finished off most of the dish of noodles. Eek…we’re a three platter family now!

Happy New Year!

We’re hoping for a better year than last–or even the last two years. Losing two parents two consecutive years was pretty hard–but at least it can only get better from here on out.

We’ve been terrible about posting lately, but we’d like to proudly add that Emerson is now pooping real turds! I know I must’ve posted a similar post about Graem years ago, but it is a bittersweet moment transitioning from the breastmilk blowouts of a few months ago. We can’t believe this girl is growing up!

Mama and Graem are playing with the Playmobil grocery store, a gift we pre-purchased about three years ago. It couldn’t be a worse toy to have with Emmy just starting to crawl! All the pieces (about 172 of them, I might had) are ingestible, and it takes fine motor skills to put all the little jars and bottles on the shelves. Mama and Mommy can barely do it!

Graem has been battling pink eye for almost two weeks now. We thought we kicked it just before Christmas, and stopped the eye drops (at the doctor’s recommendation of three days!) Then the goop reappeared on Sunday, and we think we may have lost some friends over our contagion. She’s been coughing again, and we begin the seasonal question of, “Is it asthma or is it a cold?” We’ve been doing the nebulizer nightly, since that’s when it’s the worst. The onset of both of these illnesses have brought Grammy back into our bed, much to the dismay of Mama and Santa! But we’re determined to get Grammy back into the bunk beds, or else we’ll have to call Santa to take them back.
