A Tale of Two Mamas

Trying to keep someone IN timeout

The kitchen.

We have one more room to paint (playroom) until we hit the most expensive room in the house. The kitchen. We had great dreams of replacing cabinets, counter tops, appliances. But due to lack of being wealthy we’re going to have to do the little things until we hit the lottery.

We have all of the stainless steel appliances in the garage and so we could go ahead and knock down a wall, paint our existing cabinets white, and install new counter tops.

I have been looking at undermount kitchen sinks and I think they would be perfect even if we went with a less expensive countertop like corian. I actually like the undermount kitchen sink that has a 60/40 divider. That way you can rinse on one side which we typically do and soak in the other side.

MrDirectInt.com has some great kitchen sinks and the one that I am looking at is over half of the price that it costs locally! A sink is a sink and at these prices we might even be able to splurge on the countertops!
I might put Margot to work this holiday season.

Good times.

This weekend I took Graem and her buddy, Ava, to the movies to see “Tangled”. I got convinced to take them to Claires before the movie. Can I just say I HATE that store. They had to try on all of the tacky jewelry and before I knew it they were wearing these:

God, help me. These girls are going to be trouble when they get older!

Too cool.

Seriously, is this friggin’ cool or what?

I know. Loser, right?

It’s all in the hardware…

When we first moved in one of the first things we did was take down all of the doors, replace them and then replace the door knobs with brushed nickel handled knobs. It really updates the whole room and for a house that has HORRIBLE architecture and style you really have to do the little things to bring it to the 21st century!

I’m all about Baldwin hardware. They have beautiful styles and you can choose from a huge selection of high quality hardware for your interior and exterior doors.

Damn, it’s cold.

We are literally in the process of getting our new furnace. Wouldn’t you know it that they took the old furnace out and the damn heat exchanger and all of the parts inside were totally rusted. SO much so that the rust was covering the hole which forces the hot air out.

That could have ended up really bad…

I’m just glad that we’re getting a new furnace and we’re getting some pretty good incentives and tax credits.
