I’ve been doing a lot of research lately on cancer. One of our good friends was diagnosed with colon cancer and despite Margot’s dad having it I felt like I still didn’t know much.
Our friend came out of the surgery and they have declared him “cancer free”. Of course, they’ll always be super aware of what’s going on and he’ll have to go in for routine checks.
The hard part of all of this is that our friend just turned 33.
I’ve also been reading about Mesothelioma and it’s been a good reminder that I really should wear the proper protection including a mask when doing stuff around the home.

Yes, that’s why it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything good on our website. I’ve started a part-time job and it’s going to be perfect but I just have to get through the extensive training program. Which means that Tuesdays and Thursdays the kids go to “school” and I put in full days in front of the computer.
Yesterday was their first day at school and they loved it. Graem replied with one word when I picked her up “AWESOME”. Great.
Emmy transitioned perfectly too. I wasn’t really worried because I knew Graem would make sure she was alright.
I can’t say enough how amazing my little Graem is. She really loves her little sister and it’s so sweet to see her protect her.
In other parts of our life — I’m playing softball. Our team is “not so good” … but I’ve been rocking the plate! Had some really good hits this season and I’m not sure what magically “clicked” that allowed me to hit the ball really far.
Too bad I’m still a fatass and can’t get past third base!

When I was a kid I absolutely loved the day that I would get the JCPenney and Sears catalogs in the mail. I would turn and go page by page circling all of the gadgets and baby gear that I would have. Then I would pretend that I had six kids - 3 boys - 3 girls and circle all of the clothing I would put them in.
As I got older…this didn’t change. I just started getting a calculator with tape and I would add up all of the things I wanted to get!
I miss the days of catalog printing and figure that if my girls want to do the same bizarre thing they can probably just go right online and put things in their checkout cart!

Yes, it’s that hot outside.
Days like today I wish I had my damn central air conditioning. What in the hell were we thinking moving and leaving our precious system?
In other news… my minivan got attacked last Saturday buy a hit and run. Total asshole. Anyway, they found the guy and his insurance is stepping up and taking responsibility for the accident. Plus, we get a new carseat out of it.
ALSO, five houses down the old guy got his Volvo SUV stolen from his driveway.
Damn! Seriously, we don’t live in the hood and I have no idea why we’re getting nailed like this!

When Graem was a baby Margot got me a beautiful Skagen watch for Valentine’s Day. Attached to it was a beautiful card and her words were perfect.
I have yet to really get her a great present. Everything has been really predictable and sometimes I feel like I have no idea what to get her when a gifting holiday comes along!
I have had my eyes on a movado watch for some time. I keep trying to ask Margot what she thinks when we go by the local store that has the watches. She likes a pretty conservative, metal look and wants something dressy enough to wear to meetings and casual enough to play around with the kids.
Typically, we look locally and we buy online. I just came across BlueDial.com and they offer a website full of great watches! They some great Movado watches too and quite the selection.
Margot’s birthday is just around the corner and maybe this time I’ll be able to surprise her!
