A Tale of Two Mamas

Trying to keep someone IN timeout

Archive for February, 2010

I think it’s stopped!

Everything in town is closed! I called the bank to try and figure out the house closing stuff and they’re closed! Cornell and Ithaca College were both delayed this morning.

I put Emmy down for a nap and Graem and I went out to plow our driveway. After we were done I helped Graem make a snow tunnel.

Can i just say snow play is some tiring work? Tunnel is still a work in progress.

Pimp that ride.

Over the past years we’ve had some pretty good cars. It all started with a Saturn coupe. I got it when I graduated from high school. Within the first week of having it I had it pretty pimped out. Chrome trim and matching wheels made that one of the sweetest rides on my college campus!

When I moved up to New York I needed something that managed a bit better in the snow. I figured it was only fitting that I get a Jeep Wrangler. The jeep was so much fun - in the summer. Considering it never gets too hot here we were able to take the top off a total of ten times! Each time ended in a freezing cold night and all of us wearing jackets while our teeth chattered.

In the winter the Jeep handled pretty good with the exception of a little bit of sliding. It was four wheel drive though - so it was able to navigate through some of the highest snow.

I had the jeep for a year or so and decided I should “settle down”. We started to think about a family and what better way than to get an SUV/hatchback.

I decided to get a Honda CRV. I put tons of miles on that car between my advertising job and my other marketing job. It was the best car in the world and really took a beating. Not to mention, when we did start our family it was perfect carrying cribs, strollers, and bulky carseats.

After 9 years though - the car needed quite a bit of work and with another baby on the way we had to take the plunge.

We purchased a minivan.

Now I know what you’re thinking…. I’m not your typical minivan mama. My van is not your typical minivan! It’s got butt warmers, leather seats, and jbl speakers. Plus, I’ve been able to pimp it out a bit.

Carid.com offers a great website that lets you look directly at the car make and model and see all of the accessories available. They have steering wheels, spoilers, and grilles, and my favorite option of an online chat attendant to answer any questions you might have.

You’ve heard the saying…

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Let’s just say….

I’m letting my kids watch “Snow Buddies.” You know the movie with talking dogs.

It’s gotten that bad.

We have 19 inches of snow outside and I don’t forsee it going away anytime soon. The banks and local businesses have all shut down and it’s advised that people stay inside and don’t try to go on the roads.

Still trying to figure out a closing date and coordinating that with the movers.

Get the word out!

Since I have re-vamped my website over the past week I have been looking for ways to get the word out and get some exposure. It’s all about page rank and numbers these days to advertisers and potential clients.

I’ve found a pay per click company out of California that offers website design, SEO, and email marketing.

Since I’m not the best at web design it might not be such a bad idea to let Crest Media, Inc. take a shot at it! I feel like our website needs more direction and I would love to have more updated photos of the kids available to our viewers.

Six inches later…

and the kids are driving me crazy.

Snow is coming down fast and there’s no doubt we’re going to have another snow day tomorrow. I guess the groundhog really did see his shadow and we’re due for a brutal winter!
