Emmy’s evaluation

I’ve debated back and forth over the past day about whether to write about Emmy’s evaluation.

I finally came to the conclusion that this is really the best thing I’ve got as far as a journal or record of Emmy’s birth and life and so with that ongoing idea it’d be best to write it all down.

Yesterday, we met with a speech therapist and social worker for Emmy’s evaluation. We had noticed increased agitation, aggression towards others, and thought that it might be due to her not able to communicate her needs to us.

So we talked to the pediatrician about it and she instantly referred us to Early Intervention through a local agency.

The therapists were great and did the evaluations by playing on the floor with Emmy. They saw her motor skills, speech, and everything else.

At the end of the evaluation they concluded that something is in fact going on. Damnit. I’m really torn about whether to be happy or sad about their findings. I’m sad that as a little kid she’s going to need services and may even struggle because of this.

My mind is put to ease though knowing that I knew something was wrong and that we’re getting her the help that she needs at an early age.

The next step is they want her to see an Occupational Therapist. They think she could have some sensory issues and a little behind with the fine motor skills.

I just wish there was something more I could do to make this all better…

My Christmas Wish List

Dear Santa,

Please bring the following things:

A new laptop computer.

An Iphone.

A HD flatscreen tv for upstairs.

HDMI cords to go with new tv.

An HD DVR for upstairs.

Super Mario Bros. for Wii.

Better behaved children.

Did I forget anything? If so, just go ahead and put them in my stocking. I promise to leave cookies for you this year. (For some reason last year there were only crumbs.)

Love,
Me.

Dare I say it?

But I have a sleeping baby!

This morning has been nice because it’s one of the few days that I decided to stay home with Emmy. Most days were our and about and it really wears us down.

Today I’ve been trying to clean the house and for every toy I put away Emmy makes sure to bring out two!

Now I’m just waiting for her to wake up so that I can vacuum!

That helped…

For the past few weeks I have had a horrible stomach ache. I was shocked when I went to the doctor and realized that I had lost almost 15 pounds! As much as I want *read: need* to lose weight… the stomach aches were pretty painful.

My doctor prescribed a medication for antacid and since my stomach issues have been at bay.

Now if I could just get her to prescribe weight loss pills I’d really be in good shape!

Another day off! Eeek!

Graem had two days off of school last week and this week they have tomorrow off. It seems like they’re off more than they’re going!

With all of these days off I have no idea how “normal” working parents do it.

Seriously, you’d have to take these individual days off to stay home with the kids because it’s not like you can get daycare or a sitter for just a few days a month.
