Getting older and healthcare…

It’s scary to think of what it’s going to be like when my generation gets older.

Already, we’re in a huge healthcare crunch.

There aren’t enough healthcare workers to do the low-paying grunt jobs and many hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living residences are running short staffed.

Our friend’s is having such a hard time dealing with her aging grandma. She currently has Medicare supplement that helps out some. However, she has limited funds, needs skilled nursing, and there don’t appear to be any openings in the “good” nursing home.

The end result - my friend’s family is taking grandma home to live with them and hope to be able to provide the care she needs.

Just a few cute photos….

Not sure why she had this little face rash but it seems to be gone now!

No more pool for us!

I can’t believe that the hottest part of the summer is right now and our local swimming pool closed a week ago!

What in the heck is up with that??

Last weekend we went to the local lake and took a dip. All was well with the world until we spotted a water snake coming towards us. Emmy was still in the water and we grabbed her.

I told the lifeguard and he just nodded and watched the snake leave the swimming area.

At this point, I’m all about going to SWIMMING POOLS ONLY! If I had it my way I’d have one in the backyard. Our friends have a pool that only takes 4396508 water filters.

Maybe the best option would be for us to just use our friends pool! That way they can maintain the pool, we can swim and not have to deal with all of the work!

The countdown…

begins!

Graem’s school starts in just a few more weeks.

There’s a part of me that’s very relieved to go back to one kid. Two kids at home is a really hard job! I think next summer might be a little easier because I’m guessing that as the kids get older that they’ll be able to play with each other more and more. *wishful thinking*

There’s also a part of me that’s going to be a little sad to lose my girl. We do everything together and I’ve liked having a sidekick. She laughs at my jokes even when they’re not funny and LOVES to dance and sing in the car.

Emmy has the dancing part down but can’t quite get all of the words to the music out of her mouth. Sometimes she just moans….

She won!

Emmy won the cute baby contest that our local radio station is hosting!

I entered her picture about 4 months ago and had completely forgotten about the contest. Then last Monday I get an email that her entry was accepted and she was going to be competing against 5 other babies.

This morning we woke up early, tuned into the local station, and sure enough … Emmy won!

Here is the winning announcement!

This is the winning photo.

Emmy!

She is pretty damn cute!
