We’ve started looking for our upcoming vacation destination.
I think we’ve agreed that we need SUN. DESPERATELY.
While I can appreciate a vacation to the Outer Banks we are more than likely going to stick with Costa Rico, Cancun, or even going out to visit Alex and Dominic in Las Angeles.
We had such a great time this past weekend when they came to visit. I wish they lived closer.

So Shawna and Emmy are at the ER as I write. Last night Emmy came down with a pretty nasty fever of 103.6. We treated it round the clock with ibuprofen and/or tylenol, and the pediatrician said to give another call if it didn’t go away within 24 hours. This afternoon we checked her temp again, and it was 104.3, so we gave the doc another call. This pede (different one) said we should go to the ER to get her checked out. Poor little girl was sluggish and listless–not her usual feisty self. We had dosed her with tylenol since she wasn’t quite due for the ibuprofen yet, and went to the hospital. Thank goodness Alex and Dom were here to watch Graem while Shawna and I took Em in. There was a line of people, and a high percentage of sick kids–not to mention a couple of car accidents.
It took us a while to get in, but they decided to give Em IV fluids and take her blood for tests. What a mess–there’s only one nurse who can handle infant IVs, Rosie, and thankfully she was there. In spite of that, the IV catheter slipped out nearly all the way, and poor Em was screaming bloody murder. I thought Shawna was going to pass out! Finally they got it all straightened out, and were able to get 360mL of fluid in. Emmy fell right asleep while nursing.
Gotta cut this short, as I’m heading back to the ER with reinforcements–change of clothes for everyone, in case they spend the night, plus diapers and wipes.

A few years back Margot got me the best gift ever for Valentine’s Day — a Skagen watch! I loved that watch and wore it constantly. Unfortunately, the battery died and I ended up placing it in a special place.
Now I can’t remember where that “special place” is! I’ve looked everywhere and I can’t seem to find it.
I’ve been looking at other watches and found this cool looking Skagen watch at KenmarWatches.com:
Kenmar Watches also has a great variety of Gucci watches
, Swatch watches, and my all time favorite - Skagen!
The website is easy to use and if you have questions they have a 1-800 number that you can call for a friendly customer service. I’m shocked that they can offer the selection, customer service, and amazing prices on one website!
The Skagen watch that I was looking at was marked down considerably from it’s retail price.
It just so happens that my birthday is only eight days away…. *hint*hint*

The past few days we’ve been talking about our insurance. We have life, car, and home insurance through a big chain. The last time we tried to get Margot more insurance they came out and did a physical. Since she has allergies and asthma they wanted to charge an arm and a leg for more insurance…
We might start looking at term life insurance through another provider. It seems like other providers are a bit more liberal about their coverage.

Yesterday morning I went upstairs to get Emmy because she was crying and I found her eyes caped with boogies. It was so thick and no matter how hard she tried she still couldn’t open her eyes.
I instantly freaked out and rushed her downstairs. Margot was taking her shower and we undressed Emmy and put her in the shower too.
These pictures were taken after we had cleaned her up. I just couldn’t bring myself to take a picture with her looking so yucky.

It appears that Emmy has pink eye. Graem’s has been gone for over a week now and no sign of it anywhere. I’m guessing Emmy could have gotten it at the Sciencenter or around town.
I was able to get Emmy into a 9:15am appointment with her pediatrician and we got the magical drops. I put the drops in and within hours the goop was gone. However, her eyes, lids, and sockets are still red/pink.
I feel so sorry for this little girl and I felt so helpless yesterday when she woke up and couldn’t see. Of course, within minutes she was laughing and smiling.
As for my cold/virus - it seems to be getting better. This morning was the first day that I didn’t cough up a lung when I woke up. I’ve been on antibiotics for nearly a week now and I’m not sure they’ve actually helped. I think it’s just that the virus has ran it’s course in my body.
Hopefully, this sickness stuff is behind us and we won’t get nailed again!

It looks like our little girl was in a fight!
