A Tale of Two Mamas

Trying to keep someone IN timeout

Archive for 2008

Bad mama.

I must apologize for the lack of updates. Things have been pretty busy around here and while I love updating the website and adding pictures - our computer sucks and I’ve lost numerous posts and for some reason can’t seem to post pictures.

Hopefully, Santa will get us a new computer!

As for an update…

We’re doing great! Emmy had a good night’s sleep last night. I’ve stopped inhaling coffee and other forms of crack caffeine.

Grammy was off of school yesterday for Veteran’s Day and we went to watch Madagascar 2. It was a pretty good movie and the best part was that we ran into Graem’s friend, Dobbs and his mom. We munched down on popcorn (purchased at Target and snuck into the movie theatre) and laughed at the funny parts of the movie.

Emmy was a good little girl during the movie and hung out on the boob and slept.

After that was done we went to Target where Graem drooled over Swimming Puppy and Baby Chou Chou. Yes, our daughter has been sucked in by American culture and commercials. It’s really a sad, sad, day in history, folks.

She has a Target wish list a mile long and Santa will be making some stops this afternoon to pick up some of the popular toys that will more than likely sell out this Christmas season.

I’m going to try to update WordPress and hopefully I’ll be able to post some pictures. I also have some fun videos and some Walmart “professional” pics to post too.

Zzzzz

I swear I’m in zombie mode.

Who’s idea was it to cut out my morning cup of coffee, daily cup of ice tea, and occassional soda?

The good thing is - we’re all sleeping on this front and that’s a beautiful thing! Maybe I’ll look into energy pills and see if I can get the hook up without putting caffeine into my body!

It’s my fault…

that there haven’t been adequate updates lately. I’ve been so exhausted because Emmy has been waking up every 30 minutes to nurse in the evening!

Then to keep me fueled up I tank up on caffeine. That in turn keeps her up …
and the cycle goes on
and on
and on
and on.

I have been caffeine free for more than 48 hours now and I’m feeling much better. Yesterday was like medical detox and I felt the worst headache behind my eyes and between my ears. It was horrible.

Of course, since I’ve stopped all caffeine I must admit that little Emmy has been sleeping from 8pm to 5am!

Maybe there is something to it…

Life’s a little greener on the other side.

So we’re five months into cloth diapers and I can’t tell you how much I love them! I have very few blowouts and they are perfect for nighttime usage too. Did I mention that they come in such cute designs and they make Emmy’s bum look so “squeezeable”.

There have been other areas that we’ve been trying to go green. Margot received a few promotional bags from her most recent conference in Philadelphia and we have been taking them to the grocery store so they can pack our groceries in them. They work even better than plastic bags and don’t break - plus we don’t end up with 1,000 plastic bags in our house!

5 months old!

**Please note: I had started this post over a week ago and just now getting time to finish the update!

Our little Emm is five months old today. I look back to her newborn photos and I can hardly believe how big she’s gotten over the past few months. She’s totally fattened up and has the biggest cheeks!

Emmy is a pretty funny little girl. She flirts constantly with complete strangers and typically she gets commented on with every trip we make out of the house.

She has such an amazing bond with Graem. Graem can make her laugh and laugh. When Graem’s home Emmy always wants to visually follow her throughout the house. Graem holds Emm and kisses on her daily and Emmy is content.

We just started Emmy on rice cereal and she loves it! She can’t get enough of it and she’s constantly grabbing the spoon and putting it in her mouth. At the end of each feeding both the feeder and the feedee need a hose down!

Emmy’s sleeping schedule is still a little whacky. Some nights she’ll sleep from 7:30pm to 7am in the morning! Of course, last night was a bad one and she went to bed at 7:00pm and woke up ever hour on the hour for nursing.

Emm’s become so much fun and love playing with her and seeing her respond to our silly antics!

Happy 5 months little girl!

*** I tried posting photos but for some reason word press and my computer are crapping out. Will try again later.
