It seems like Friday night through Sunday night are in fast forward and through the week is in slow-motion!
We had a fantastic weekend!
Saturday morning we gave blood at the local blood bank. Then we went to the Scarecrow Jubilee at the local Children’s Garden. We met up with one of Graem’s school friends from IC3 and they played together.
Emmy even made a friend!
We brought Emmy’s “friend” home and he serves as the scarecrow for the front yard!
Sunday we had a fun day in the leaves. We all played and had a great time!
Last night was quite restless. I think Emmy’s going through a growth spurt because she’s been sleeping quite a bit but also waking up frequently to nurse.
Last night I felt like she was rooting for the boob every fifteen minutes. At least I’ve gotten to the point where I can change a diaper and feed her in the dark without turning every light in the house on!
However, having so much interrupted sleep is discouraging and at 4am I woke up to nurse and couldn’t go back to bed because I knew I’d just be feeding her again in fifteen minutes!
One thing that we’re realizing with the two girls is that they are two different kids (DUH?!) and with that we have to change our parenting style for each one. When Grammy was a baby she loved to be snuggled and nursed to bed. Even now she loves having a warm body close by.
A few nights ago we started letting Emmy cry it out in her crib or playpen. By goodness…it’s working!! We’re not struggling with her and typically we put her on her belly and within 30 seconds she’s already asleep.
I really didn’t realize it’d be this easy but it’s nice to not have to fight her on sleep when she’s so exhausted and I think she really likes her space and realizes that when she goes in her bed it’s because she should be sleeping!
*yawn*
I’m off to drop Grammy at school this morning. Margot had a meeting in Albany and had to leave the house early. This afternoon we’re picking up one of Grammy’s friend’s from a different montessori and I’m going to take the kids out for a few hours.
I guess this will be a taste of what it’d be like with three kids.

Last Friday we went with Sarah and Ilah to the pumpkin farm. The kids were awesome and had a great time. We did get sideswiped while parked while we were in the pumpkin farm. The policeman took a whopping 2 hours to get to the scene!
Thank God the kids were well behaved and we had good snacks and books to read to the kids!
Then Emmy started nursing on the pumpkins …
This was right before we got lost in the corn maze:
