A Tale of Two Mamas

Trying to keep someone IN timeout

Who’s your daddy?

The other day when I went to pick up medications at the pharmacy I was shocked to see that they sell DNA testing for people to use for paternity!

Supposedly, you swab the “baby daddy’s” mouth and the kid’s mouth and send both samples to the lab in a pre-paid envelope.

The cost of the test was around twenty dollars and then you had to pay a certain amount for the lab testing.

It’s shocking that instead of going on Maury or Jerry Springer these days to find out you’re the “baby daddy” you can just spend a little bit of money and do it in the comfort of your own home!

We’re back!

We got back into town Monday morning at 12:30am! To say the least..we were exhausted.

We’re just starting to get rested and unpacked and it’s nice to know that we’re going to be home for the rest of the summer. No more traveling for us!

Houston and the beach were tons of fun but there’s something to be said for sleeping in your own bed with your own pillow!

The past few nights have been great though. Emmy has been waking up once at around 3am, nursing and sleeping til around 7am. I’ve learned how to nurse lying down and last night she slept in the co-sleeper for most of the night.

I really couldn’t ask for a better baby! She loves her sleep and once she has a dry diaper and a fully tummy she’s all about dozing off.

Sorry for the lack of updates but…we’ve been busy and I’ve hardly had a minute to go to the bathroom!

Now that we’re back in town I think I’ll have more time on the days that Grammy’s at daycare. We’re also going to post all of June’s pictures this weekend.

HELP!

I’ve fallen asleep and I can’t wake up!

The past few weeks we’ve been on the go so much and although little Emerson is getting into a pretty decent routine I have not been able to sleep good. I think it’s just a matter of not being in my own bed with my own pillow.

I just found a great website - Xoxide that offers some Nano Coffee Energy Tablets. The idea is appealing and it might just be the thing that I need to keep me up during the day without drinking ten cups of coffee!

Plus, right now they are offering the tabs as part of their July specials. Their regular price is $2.99 and the sales price is $1.49! Now that’s a savings that you can’t resist.

Xoxide also offers other goodies too like: computer lighting, power supplies, keyboards, CPU fans, and many other computer supplies!

Work it out, baby!

I have just a few more days before I start up on my diet. Yowzers! That means that I’m going to have to look into fitness equipment and start working on my diet.

The good thing is…I have the whole nursing gig going for me. I feel like I lose weight instantly by feeding the little one and if I could add a little exercise and diet to my routine I’ll get those unwanted pounds off in no time!

Fun in the sun!

We’re having a great time here.

Yesterday we went to the beach, ate snacks, and enjoyed the waves. You should have seen the minivan - it was packed up and with the children, food, adults, and blow up toys you could barely see out the back.

After we overdid it at the beach we came home and cleaned up. Then we went for a late lunch. The kids did great other than being tired. When we got home they took a short nap.

Then we decided to venture out for dinner. We went into town which is just a few short miles. The little town here is so cool - but the tourists have obviously taken over. The little pizza shop that we had planned to go to had a wait of over an hour long.

So we decided to skip to the main drag on one of the routes and go to Ruby Tuesdays. It was good initially, however, we then got our food and it was cold, not well prepared, and didn’t have much flavor.

We were going to go out for icevcream but Emmy had different plans. She was on the boob for most of the afternoon and wouldn’t let off for a minute. When she was taken off she wailed. Which meant that all car rides were pretty miserable and I just couldn’t take her screaming to the top of her lungs as we looked for a parking spot!

Today was much more relaxed and better planned. We decided to go to the pool early. We got a great spot and the kids, Margot, and I went swimming. The water was perfect and again we had some great snacks!

Now we’re just waiting for everyone to wake up and I think we might hit the Popeye’s for dinner. It’s easy, cheap, and we figure there aren’t going to be a lot of out-of-towners hitting the fried chicken!

We’ve taken tons of pictures during the past few weeks and when we get home we’ll post all of June and some recent teaser photos.

Graem is giant and growing like a weed this summer. I look at her and can’t believe that she’s such a big kid. She’s filled out a bit and seems to be a little meatier.

Emmy is doing the same! Her cheeks have fattened right up and she’s LONG! Of course, she has my build. Long torso and short legs. She also has my other admirable features - big nose, and elephant ears.

Sorry, Emmy!
