I really can’t believe that little Emmy is six weeks old. I gaze at her daily and think to myself I wish I could just freeze the second because each one goes so fast and I know before I realize she’ll be running around screaming profanities.
She’s started lifting her head for long periods of time and you don’t have to worry about holding her head when you hold her. We’re still working on tummy time. She really isn’t a fan.
She nurses like a champ and can smell the second mama’s milk is in the air. In fact, she can be in a deep sleep and the second I start pumping my milk she wakes up. Margot says that she thinks I’m giving away the goods!
She loves her big sister. In fact, every evening Grammy holds Emmy and she gazes in her eyes. Emmy has started smiling at Grammy and it just melts our hearts. I’m sure the girls already have a one-of-a-kind sister bond.
Yesterday we went out to do a geocache and while Margot and Graem were digging through the trees to find treasure Emmy started screaming bloody murder. I got her out of the carseat. Sure enough, she has a grade six explosion. Poo was all over the place including diaper, dress, dress diaper cover, carseat, head thingy in carseat, and soon got on all of us.
We’ve decided to do a rating system of poo because before we’d go out and realized that no matter where we were we’d start talking about what a doozie crap our kid took. We figured that if we added a number system her to poos it could be an insider poo secret - instead of saying:
“THAT WAS THE BIGGEST SHIT I’VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!”
“It went everywhere and was a bright yellow!!”
Now after all of that poo talk - I’m going to leave you with beautiful pictures of little Emmy!

This morning Graem and Margot took the bus down to the waterfront to watch the dragon boats race down the inlet. It is quite the ordeal and they didn’t realize that it goes on all day long and so they were there this morning bright and early at 8am.
I was at home sleeping a little and then I ended up doing laundry, and waiting for someone to come and pick up some goodies that I sold on Craigslist.
I then met up with another person to sell some Craigslist stuff and then met up with Graem and Margot at the Dragon boat event. It was hot, hot, hot and we met up with some old friends and enjoyed some good Cambodian and Puerto Rican food.
We also used our new stroller with both kids in it! It was great - easy to push, and seemed to keep both kids comfortable. The only thing is…it takes up half of the van and it weighs a ton. Perfect for when you know you’re going to be out for a while or if you’re walking on paths or sidewalks.

This is the first real day that I’ve been at home with Emerson by myself. Last night was pretty rough because she woke up at 4am and wanted to nurse and then was fully awake.
So at 5:30am I ended up taking her downstairs and sleeping with her on the couch. In the middle of sleeping she nuked me and I was so tired I just went back to sleep.
What is even worse than that is that it’s 11:30am and I’m still wearing the same shirt that has baby barf all over it!
This whole morning has been spent nursing and holding her because each time I’ve tried to transition her to the crib she wakes up and screams. Then the whole process starts again and I have to nurse her and hold her for a while then put her back in the crib…
The funny thing about all of this is that I’m typically a pretty grumpy person when it comes to losing sleep, however, there are some nights/mornings when I can just gaze at this little girl sleeping and before I know it…an hour has passed.
I’m so in love with this little one and I’m still shocked that she’s mine and not someone elses.
And despite everything we’ve been through to get her here I’d do it over in a minute - even if it is at 4:32am.

As everyone can see from some of my earlier posts I’m back home and trying to make some money by doing some blogging and advertising. Those cloth diapers are expensive and Mama loves the new BumGenius 3.0 which cost a fortune!
Fortunately, I’ve found that our local diaper shop Jillian’s Drawers offers a great “Gently Used” section and I’ve been able to pick up some great deals on used diapers that were part of her sample program and used for less than a month. Most of the diapers are in perfect shape and you can’t even tell that they’ve been used!
We’ve tried gDiapers, Kissaluvs with Bummis Super wraps, and Bum Genius.
gDiapers were quite the fluke for us. I’ve used them about ten times thinking that each leaky, crappy diaper must have been put on wrong or maybe it was Emm’s big butt blow that did the job. Then there’s the whole aspect of having three parts of the diaper. There’s the outter shell that’s adorable and makes baby butts look too damn cute. Then there’s a plastic liner inside that you put the flushable liner in. It has way too many parts and when Emmy had a blow out every single piece had to be either thrown away or put in the crap bucket for soaking.
I posted the gDiapers yesterday on CraigsList and they’ve been sold! Some other environmentalist can give these dipes a chance!
The Kissaluvs and Bummis Super Wraps worked pretty good. The Kissaluvs is a soft, terry cloth piece that you snap onto the baby’s butt. It gets pretty darn wet and so you use the Bummis Super Wrap to put over it. They hold tons of pee and haven’t leaked any poo out.
Typically, when you’re using this combination you change the Kissaluv during every diaper change because it’s wet or poopy but you keep the same Bummis and can use those until they get stained or smell of pee. The inside of the Bummis has a water resistant fabric and so the pee just beads up on it.
My favorite is the BumGenius 2.0 and 3.0. It’s really a one-stop-shop with these diapers and they’re soft on the inside and velcro right onto the kid. They’re perfect for a crying baby where you need to move fast too. I like the fact that they are easy and typically you put them on, they soak up tons of pee and poo, and you can throw them directly into the crap bucket without having to give much care to them before washing.
All in all, I’m glad I’m doing cloth diapering. I feel it’s helping the environment and there’s a part of me that really likes washing, folding, and knowing that something soft and cuddly is on my precious baby’s bottom!

I’m talking about my acne.
Literally, the day after I had Emmy my face started to break out! Mind you, I didn’t have a single pimple during pregnancy!
Then the other day I used the sunblock waxy stick to apply sunscreen and I got monster zits all over my face.
This is so unfair to be in my thirties and getting pimples. Reminds me of my good ole’ high school days!
