A Tale of Two Mamas

Trying to keep someone IN timeout

Archive for April, 2008

Thanks kid.

Just a few minutes ago I was sitting on the couch after taking my morning shower. Graem came up beside me and gave me a hug.

Then she looks in my ear and says “Mama, you have something gross in your ear. It’s a hair.” In the same breath she looked at my nose and said “You have hairs in your nose too. But that’s what happens when you get old.”

Now you’d think the fun would stop there….oh no.

She then said “You have a boo boo on your nose that’s a pimple.”

Thank God we really haven’t gone into specifics about fat and skinny people yet.

SO TIRED.

I think I’ve hit a brick wall. I go to sleep at night and sleep like a baby. Then I wake up eight plus hours later and I’m exhausted!

I know it’s part of the pregnancy = no energy thing. But give me a break! I just want a few more weeks of energy so that I can finish my to-do list.

It’s been entertaining to see that some of the blogs that I have been viewing since I found out I was pregnant - are starting to have their babies!! Of course, it’s now becoming more real that in or around 47 days we’re going to have our own little bundle of joy!

The good ole days…

The last time I was fat I just hooked up with some weight loss pills aka: fat pills and was able to get nice and trim before trying to get pregnant.

Now that I’ve gained a good forty pounds or so baking this baby…I’ve got to figure out something! I’m guessing that when she makes her appearance I might lose a good eight pounds or so. Of course, that still leaves thirty pounds that I’m going to have to lose!

Boy, I’m going to miss those fat pills and I can’t take them if I’m nursing.

Exercise? Diet? Anyone?

On the go?

We’re trying to figure out our plans for when we’re on maternity leave. More than likely we’re going to spend some time in New York City with Margot’s father. We’ve also talked about traveling to Houston to see my parents and friends.

One thing we’ve yet to purchase is travel insurance. It makes sense though and you never know when you might need it!

We were happy to hear that the airline tickets were at an all time low. I wish we could see the future a little bit and see how Margot’s dad was doing and to see if this little girl (Emerson) was going to cooperate for a 5 hour flight!!

Just finished!

I’m happy to report that after a month I’ve finally finished my book: Expecting Adam. It was a really good book but I’ve been a bit of a slacker when it comes to reading. It seems like I just can’t find the time!

It was funny to see that when the woman in the book went into labor that they actually used a pocket watch to count contractions!

It seems like pocket watches are a dying breed and I was happy to see them at the local antique shop the other day.
