A Tale of Two Mamas

Trying to keep someone IN timeout

Fun! Fun! Fun!

I really can’t believe it’s almost been two years since we went to Las Vegas. Oh how times flies when you’re having “fun”. It seems like through the infertility rollercoasters that it wasn’t that far back and I remember doing the consult like it was yesterday. Of course, I look at the photos of our two trips there and can’t believe that we started trying to have another baby when Graem was just a baby herself. She was just 18 months old!

When we were there we were constantly looking for things to do in Las Vegas. Of course, the things that we were interested in doing involved kid friendly activities. We were able to check out the tiger exhibits and even go to the park that had wild animals. We went to the aquarium and have some great photos of that.

All in all, Las Vegas wasn’t a total waste. We were able to soak up the sun, eat great food and on one of the trips we were able to hang out with Alex and Dom.

Score.

Well, I just got off of the phone with Time Warner and it looks like we’re going to have another year of “TV promotion”! I hadn’t realized that this whole time we were getting a free showtime promotion. So that will end at the end of the month.

They also tried to sell us on HBO. However, I’m not sure that there’s anything good on HBO so I declined that offer.

I figure I can just call every few months to see if they have any free promotions! Another option is to call on a Friday get SHOtime or HBO to watch a series and then cancel it Monday! Seems a lot cheaper than renting the DVDs at the video store!

A new earth?

We’ve really been trying to do our part lately in using eco-friendly products. In fact, the whole idea behind using cloth diapers was to reduce landfill waste that takes hundreds of years to decompose. What we’ve realized along the way is that there are some products worth buying and some that do absolutely nothing and don’t have the same effect as their toxic counterparts.

When I say a new earth many people think I’m referring to us trying to do our part to preserve mother earth.

Now The Sedona Method has been helping people transform their lives and the planet and awaken from the dream of separation for over 30 years.

Right now on Sedona.com you can recieve a free Sedona Method DVD and CD by signing up. In fact, you have nothing to lose by taking advantage of the offer while supplies last.

If you’re interested to hear and see what the Sedona Method is you can check out some of the free samples on Sedona.com. In fact, initially I had no idea what the whole concept was and after listening to a few of the samples I was better able to understand the main concepts.

If you’re looking for inner peace and a way to break down emotional barriers then you might want to check out the Sedona Method. The Sedona Method shows you how to transcend the pain in your body and ego. It gives you the tools you need to live a balanced and tranquil life.

Busty today…I mean busy.

Margot dropped Graem off at school today in hopes that I could sit my ass on the couch, rest up, and make much needed “bitch calls.”

First off, a call to Britax. It seems that our $269 carseat has a broken buckle. When you put the kid in and try to buckle it you can only do it if you buckle the right side first. If you try to buckle the left side first it doesn’t catch and ends up coming undone. An obvious hazard for those that don’t know the “special trick.”

The second victim, Time Warner Cable. Each year I have to call and bitch about the increase they give to our bill. Then I tell them to pound salt and take their cable and shove it. I’m then transferred to “Pat” from the retention center and she adjusts my bill for a full year. They call it a “promotion.” Thank God, I’ve been able to get Pat for the past two or so years. She remembers my account and she’s always so friendly.

This afternoon I have to run the dog to the vet and get her put on puppy prozac. This is really our last ditch effort to keep Bailey here. She’s seriously out of control and aside from her jumping off of people and barking at a leaf dropping from a tree…the peeing in the house has got to stop. (Read: Sausage factory is in her future)

You’ll also notice that I’m trying to catch up on some of my blogging efforts. I’ve let them slide over the past few days - but I’m back at the keyboard and feeling pretty good. Plus, I love seeing money instantly appear in my paypal account!

Experience and education in one stop?

When I moved to New York I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I had decided not to waste any more money and time going back to college. I took a job at Cornell for a year to figure out what I wanted to do and realized then and there that my education was very important and without that I wouldn’t be able to do much with my life.

So I decided to do some online courses and even meet with professors through a special school offered through State University of New York. Not only did it allow me to work full-time but it worked around my schedule. I could do my assignments when I wasn’t working and when I had extra time.

With the increase in manufacturing in the United States and the push to keep things local there’s a huge need for engineering co-op programs. One program that has recieved amazing reviews and kudos is the Kettering University program.

Most recently, US News and World Report has ranked Kettering University as “the #1 University in the nation for Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering” in its annual “America’s Best Colleges Guide for 2008″.

I think when you’re specializing in something like engineering it’s important to go to a school that is known and acknowledged for it’s program. Kettering University not only specializes…but masters the art of teaching people how to achieve their goals.

With the increase in industrial engineering there’s a program that can help people interested in the field not only gain textbook knowledge and education but also gain the experience aspect while participating in a working cooperative program.
