As mentioned in the earlier post - we went to Rochester this morning for our level two ultrasound and to meet with the Perinatologist. I absolutely love Strong Health Medical Center. The facilities are new, the staff are so nice and helpful, and I’ve always received top notch care there.
In fact, it’s the same hospital I went to when I had my pacemaker installed three years ago.
So we get to the ultrasound lounge and I check in. Margot said that one of the other pregnant ladies was checking out my belly! Then we started talking about having “belly envy”. She asked if I checked out other bellies and I replied “Of course, I do!”
In fact, sometimes I’m like “God, that’s a nice belly” and I must admit that it seems a bit dirty at times. I like the perfectly round bellies but I certainly don’t have belly prejudice.
In the middle of our conversation our nice ultrasound girl, Jennifer, comes in and asks a series of questions. She also asks if we want to know the sex. We reply quickly “Yes, we’re dying to know it.”
So she starts the scan and PDB is bouncing everywhere, arms up and down - then she starts waving at us. First she uses her right hand and waves, then she uses her left hand!
Here’s a picture of her profile and her waving at us. You can also see her legs bent at the knees on the right side:

Here’s another picture of her face from the side. You can see her forehead, nose, mouth, and chin.

PDB had grown quite a bit since our last ultrasound three weeks ago. Her head was bigger, arms, legs. Plus, when she moved around I could sure feel it! She gave me a few swift kicks to the bladder and I thought I was going to pee everywhere!
Here’s a picture of her big foot that keeps giving me a swift kick to my left side:

Throughout the ultrasound Jennifer kept trying to find out the sex of the baby and he/she kept her legs closed. There were times I swore I saw a weiner and no balls. Then I’d see three lines indicating a girl. So by the end of the ultrasound and various attempts she apologized and said that maybe the doctor would have better luck.
Dr. Pressman walked in and was really nice. She asked a few questions about my heart condition and then reported that everything looked great so far and the measurements for the baby were right on. She then did all of the measurements for the heart and also saw how it was beating.
She said everything looked perfect and I asked her if I was able to stay with the midwives and she didn’t see any reason why I couldn’t.
As I was getting dressed Jennifer (the ultrasound girl) came back in and said she figured out the sex of our baby - did we still want to know! We both said “YES!” At that point I said “I saw three lines, it’s a girl” and she said “Yes, you’re right!” She said she never guesses unless she’s 100% right and she went back and looked at our session with her collegues and they all agreed that we’re in fact having a baby girl!
The money shot:

It was so nice having a definate answer and knowing that we’re having a girl instead of being in limbo land! Of course, we’re happy as clams knowing that our little one is healthy and growing perfectly inside my belly - we still don’t want to meet her for another 14-18 weeks though!
