A Tale of Two Mamas

Trying to keep someone IN timeout

18 weeks!

Holy COW! Each week I write about how it’s going so fast and I can’t believe how far I am! This week is no different. My belly is sticking out there and it’s pretty rock hard. The top belly seems to be poking out the most and I think my internal organs have found a safe haven there.

One thing that has not stopped growing is the girls. I have two bras that still fit and I know my cheap ass just needs to go out and pick up a few more comfortable bras to get me through the next few months. I must admit I just can’t bring myself to buy double D’s though! Damn. I thought the girls were big before!

We’re also starting to do a little nesting around here. This weekend we got rid of the Christmas tree and rearranged the living room. We tried to make it a little bit more baby friendly and figured we’d put the baby swing and pack and play up later. Margot also brought up all of the baby bins.

We have tons of baby clothing! We could have seriously clothed triplets. We put the clothes in the drawers last night and I put a big pile of clothes together that I didn’t like or didn’t fit good when Graem was a baby. I figure I’ll try to sell the clothes back to the used baby store and try to get store credit.

Of course, when we were going through the clothing Grammy made sure to try on the baby hats, sweaters, mittens, and baby dresses. We’ll have to post pictures!

It was great going through all of the baby clothes. Of course, it was quite nostalgic for us to go through each outfit and talk about the time that Graem puked on us or pooped up the back when she was wearing the outfit!

I’m feeling awesome! I’ve been told many times “You’ve got the glow” and it feels great! I love looking down and seeing the baby bump and now feeling little girl in there too is fun! I don’t get sick anymore and I have tons of energy. I’m no longer on senior schedule with the naps and going to bed by 8pm. Plus, I get up twice to go to the bathroom at night!

I’ll try to get some belly photos together and post them later this afternoon. We’ll see if my “little” photographer cooperates this afternoon! Maybe this time she won’t cut my head out of the photo!

Give me sleep!

I had the hardest time going to bed Friday night. We went out for Graem’s birthday dinner at Just-a-Taste with L,C & J. We had a great time and I’ve never consumed so much delicious food in my whole life.

When I got home my ever so rock hard belly was harder!

Before I was able to semi-sleep on my belly — but that ended! I tried sleeping on my sides but I just couldn’t get comfortable. Then Margot started snoring. When I woke up I was hugging a corner of the bed because Graem had stollen my pillow and was sleeping on it.

At one point I considered moving downstairs to the spare bedroom but was way too lazy.

Last night, I had a similar experience but I’m blaming it on the baby! I would lay on one side and she was twirl and twirl and twirl! Of course, I loved feeling it and within twenty minutes or so she finally started moving enough for me to sleep.

It seems like when my bladder gets full and she gets cramped she sure lets me know! She starts kicking and moving around and it’s almost like I have a built in pee-meter.

Bye bye sippy cups!

Two days ago I woke up to Graem sipping on her last sippy cup ever! It was quite sad to see her on the couch with tears in her eyes. Earlier that morning she had a “throw away” ceremony with Margot where they disposed of all sippy cups.

Now she drinks from some glasses that we picked up that are just her size.

With the newfound independence that I’m glad to see…. I must admit that sippy cups were the end of an era and our baby girl is really a big girl now!

Got plasma?

At some point we’re going to buy a new plasma television for our living room. Our living room is so small and it will be awesome to have all of the extra space after hanging the television up on the wall!

Of course, we’d also have to get a plasma lift in order to secure the television on the wall. I would want to make sure that the cords are hidden in the wall too and we get it professionally installed.

There’s nothing tackier then spending a lot of money on a television only to have all of the cords running all over the place! Not to mention, with a three year old and baby walking around I can just imagine a new television falling on the floor and breaking.

We *heart* green products!

When I moved to New York I had never heard of recyclijng. In Texas they didn’t offer recycling and only homeless people would collect aluminum cans and cash them in for less than a penny a can.

These days we’ve been really conscious of our decisions when it comes to green products and helping to make the earth a better place.

Perhaps, it’s the fact that we have a daughter and one on the way that’s going to have to live here for the next one hundred years. But also, we realize that if we’re not going to make it a better place and do our part — then who is?

I certainly do honor the businesses in our community that are “green friendly” and use products that are able to be recycled and energy that does not use our resources.

GreenAndMore.com is an awesome website that is really missioned on how to not only help people recycle and use less energy. But they also do their part by using recycled goods and donate to charities that make a difference.

I like the fact that they offer an active blog on their website where you can get some great tips on “going green”. Their website is easy to use and fun! They offer just about anything and everything you might be looking for - PLUS - their prices are quite reasonable. Even if you need it shipped somewhere.

GreenAndMore.com comes highly recommended by these Two Mamas and a huge kudos goes out to a company that’s doing their part!
