A Tale of Two Mamas

Trying to keep someone IN timeout

My friend…

When I was in college in Texas I roomed with my best friend, Jenny, from high school.   We had a great time and she would always make me food.    I remember telling her to eat with me and she never would.

Finally, one day I realized that Jenny was getting real thin.    I talked to her dad and that weekend he came up and got her.   Neither he nor I realized how bad she had gotten and how sick she was.

That weekend she was admitted to the hospital for liver failure and weighed 75 pounds.

I couldn’t believe how I could have lived with her and just not noticed.   I wish I would have known about New York eating disorders warning signs

After the episode Jenny didn’t reach out to her old friends.   I assumed she was embarassed and maybe there was a part of her past that she didn’t want to reconnect with.

Just a few years ago I was talking with a mutual friend.   I asked how Jenny Parker was doing and he told me that Jenny passed away.

She was able to go back to school after the hospitalization our junior year, however, when she graduated she obtained a job and relapsed.

Avalon Centers in Williamsville, New York offer services for people with eating disorders.    I wish they would have been able to help my friend, Jenny.

8 weeks today!

Well, I can’t believe that I’m already 8 weeks pregnant!   WOW!

I did a few belly pictures last week but I must say that there’s really nothing to see except for my existing already fat belly.    So I figure when I get 12 weeks I’ll post weeks 7-12 and you can see the progression of a baby belly.

I’ve been a little sick here and there and I’m still pretty tired at night.   Last night we had all intentions of staying up for “Heros” but noone made it.    Lights were out by 8:30pm.

The good thing is … we’re all getting the sleep that our body’s need and for the most part the family is waking up more refreshed and feeling healthier!

On the flipside, Graem did not take a nap yesterday at daycare… so I don’t know if more sleep at night is going to end up cutting out her nap.

Are you a clog lover?

The whole family (with the exception of Graem) has owned Dansko clogs at one point or another.    I had mine about 5 years ago and they were so darn comfortable.    Margot has the sporty Dansko shoes and wears them almost every day to work.

The great thing about Danskos is that they are extremely comfortable but you can also wear them to work because they are dressy enough.

MetBoots.com offers a full variety of Dansko clogs for the whole family.  They also offer work boots, steel toe boots, and Dr Martens!   They have great prices and a huge selection.

I like the new Dansko Courtney and it looks comfortable and dressy enough to wear with pants.

They also offer free shipping on orders over $100!

Not cutting it…

I’m doing some office hours today and I’m located at the Collegetown Bagels on East Hill.   I’ve been doing really good at keeping away from caffeine.    Today I’m drinking a decaf hazelnut coffee.    I must be honest though…it isn’t doing the trick.

I miss the energy that my beloved coffee always seemed to give.    But more importantly, I miss the smokey and thick taste.

With the decaf I feel like I’m drinking a watered down version of sugar water.

Business cents.

When I started my business I did the not so smart thing of using my cell phone as my business contact phone.   Little did I realize that there would be times when my phone battery would be dead or the phone would be out of commission and I would receive calls.

I also didn’t realize how much families in need talk and how many minutes would be used with potential clients!    I think a Business voIP would make a lot of sense for my current situation.      In fact, Packet8 offers a VOIP that you can hook up directly to your broadband service and have full telephone access.

Some of the best features of Packet8 Virtual Office is that it’s easy to install, there’s no fancy hardware, and you just can’t beat the price!

Packet8.net offers an easy to use website where you can either chat live with the sales staff or even call the 1-888 number.   The website also gives information for small business and call centers and includes information about offers, installation, and equipment.

If you own a small to medium business take it from me and don’t use your cell or home phone!    Instead, do what makes business sense and saves you money.    Go the route that so many smart companies are turning to - Business voIP!
