Our animals have to be the most needy animals in the world! Peanut is constantly trying to get you to pet him and lately he’s started rubbing up against Grammy for love! She will then grab his tail and start pulling until he meows and bats at her with his claws.
Then minutes later you’ll see him doing the same thing!
Murphy, our special kitty, loves walking back and forth over our heads when we are sleeping. She purrs as loud as she can and sounds like a motor boat going back and forth!
Poor Bailey. She used to be the “baby” before Graem was born and has moved down in the ranks. Her only joys are to hump Peanut and get Grammy’s left overs. When we dropped her off at the dog kennel last week she was so happy to go inside! I think she knew that she’d get some attention being the cute, little, bouncy dog!
When I picked her up Monday she was so glad to see us and she slept for two days straight. I can just imagine her in the kennel jumping, barking, jumping, barking - straight for the four days that we were gone.
That can get tiring!

After losing 75 pounds last year I’ve unfortunately, gained back about 20. I can blame it on the infertility treatments but the reality is… I’ve started eating crappy again and not taking care of myself.
I decided the other day that I’m going to get my body back into shape and keep the weight off. I figure not only will this help with me feeling better but could help my chances of conceiving.
When someone walks into Margot’s dad’s office for liposuction he first recommends that they lose the weight so that they don’t get fat again shortly after the procedure.
I figure at this point I am going to lose my weight the old fashioned way by exercize and healthy diet. Next week I plan on signing up for the local gym and I might even get a personal trainer to help me out for the first few weeks.
The hardest part is actually getting your butt off of the couch and going to the gym but Margot and me have talked about doing this together. There’s really no excuse since the gym is amazing and they offer cheap daycare!

Being that I was an Executive Director at an Assisted Living Residence for four years before Graem was born I still have an interest in information dealing with seniors and health care.
Since resigning to stay home with the baby I’ve done some healthcare consulting in the area and on a corporate level. I’ve been able to help people with nursing home placement, provide companion care, and even provide market research on assisted living.
With our parents and friend’s parents getting older it’s always been important to know what options are available. In Ithaca the options are easy. We have three nursing homes, two assisted living residences, and a handful of senior housing.
In New York City, where Margot’s dad lives, it’s a bit harder. There are so many different places for seniors and other people needing care that there’s no way to check them all out.
That’s why I’m glad I stumbled across The Gilbert Guide. GilbertGuide.com offers information on nursing homes, assisted living, adult daycare, and they also have a team of geriatric managers to help assist with the care of your loved ones. You can also take a detailed look at home care services in New York City.
What a great resource and I’ve already bookmarked this page for when the time comes and either us or a friend needs assistance dealing with their parent or loved one.

After the whole ordeal with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mass and battling them over infertility benefits I’m so glad that it’s over. I feel like a huge burden has been lifted from my chest. Although, they didn’t decide in my favor I’m glad I pursued it because I feel like I did everything I could.
I am glad that we were able to present a good case to the insurance company complete with an attorney’s letter and even a doctor’s letter. The legal services were provided to us free of charge by a friend whose son goes to school with Grammy. Had we wanted to pursue this case we’d probably want an attorney that specialized in contracts and agreements and business law and might retain the services of a San Diego Business Law firm.
I also feel greatful that we are able to have the support of our friends and family when going through the journey of trying to conceive a baby. It seems like over the years they have stood by us, listened to us cry, and continue to be supportive.
All in all, I’m ready to move on, have a positive outlook on our future and hope and pray in the next few months we’ll get pregnant.
That’s all we can do right now.

When I went to bed last night, I hoped that I could sleep in. Well, I woke up at 6AM, so I guess technically that counts as sleeping in–I didn’t get up at 5:15. The girls will probably sleep in til about 8:30 or 9:00, so maybe I can get some quality Wii time in.
On another note, we received the USB HD case I ordered for the cremains of our laptop–and it works! I attempted to run Quicken off that HD to get some access. It’s been 6 days and I’m suffering from withdrawal. I have no idea how much money we have, or when it will be gone, so I have sweating moments and shaking hands thinking we’re either rich or broke. I have no idea if I’m supposed to pay the mortgage this week (on time) or in the next 2 weeks (grace period). I’m also having anxiety about Shawna’s taxes, because I don’t know when that payment should fall. I wish there were a way to do this all online, so I wouldn’t have to deal with broken computers, and I could update it anywhere. Google, where are you? Quicken.com only offers online backups.
Anyway, the new laptop should be here today or Monday, since I saw that it shipped out of Syracuse this morning! And Shawna got me Quicken 2007 on eBay, so I’m very excited. I looked on the Quicken webpage and they have a version for Medical Expenses — *drool*.
