A Tale of Two Mamas

Trying to keep someone IN timeout

So glad to be back…

to wireless! For some reason, at my dad’s house, the wireless connection was spotty at best. There were two available networks we could hop onto, but they were both miserably slow–like 18.0MBps or less, at very low signal strength. And to top it off, no matter what network you were on, it was always greener on the other one! It was a cruel game.

It was at its worst when I was trying to do some file uploads for work on Monday–I couldn’t even log into the project share site without getting kicked off.  Meanwhile I was trying to remote desktop into work to get the files, and couldn’t FTP from there!  It was so frustrating. I kept running upstairs and downstairs trying to get a better signal.  Then I thought, maybe the best thing to do is plug into a hard line–but then I had to wait for what seemed to be an eternity to get into the room that had the modem, since it had the only available bathroom (long story, the bathroom has no door, so you have to lock the room door!)  When I finally got in, I realized that our 10/100 jack was broken!  AUGH!  Finally I just called into work and had someone there do the upload–which took all of about 5 minutes.
