A Tale of Two Mamas

Trying to keep someone IN timeout

seven seconds.

As many of you know, I was raised in Houston, Texas.  Contrary to public belief rodeo, boots, and country music are not 100% Texan and not all Texans have 10 gallon hats, cattle, and boots.

However, I did have boots, wranglers, a hat, and went horse back riding at least twice a month at the local farm!  I even worked there for a summer as a farm hand.  One day when I was riding one of the younger horses I remember the saddle starting to become lose, the horse leaped back, and literally started running and then I fell off.

It was quite the tramatic incident and thank God I wasn’t injured!

I have no idea how those professional bull riders do it!

With that said, we used to always go to the Houston Rodeo!   The entertainers were amazing including Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Alabama, and C&C Music Factory!   Plus, the Houston Rodeo also had a great lifestock show.

When I was a senior in high school my friends and I made a road trip to Las Vegas.   We went to drink illegally and gamble.   However, while we were there we actually went to the Professional Bull Riders Finals!   It was an amazing experience and we hooted and hollered for not just the riders but those bulls!

It was so intense and although, we had nosebleed seats it was amazing to see those guys whipped here and there and them just trying to beat the clock and stay on for the “magical” seven seconds!

One guy was taken away by the ambulance and it was later announced that he had a punctured lung and broken ribs from when the bull stepped on him.

Of course, the whole idea is that you hold on for seven seconds and then hop off gracefully and that’s when the goofy clown runs around and tries to distract the bull!

Yeah right, unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way.

So if you are in or around Las Vegas during the the bull riding finals I’d highly recommend getting PBR Tickets.   If I remember correctly they really weren’t too expensive and it was well worth the money!
