A Tale of Two Mamas

Trying to keep someone IN timeout

Archive for September, 2006

Yes, I AM insane

So I’ve taken up a new hobby–sewing.  I’ve been asking Shawna for years now for a sewing machine, at first for the sole purpose of repairing stuff, but recently I’ve wanted to take up quilting and making clothing for Grammy.  I figure quilts are straight stitches, and clothes for Graem are small, discrete tasks.

For my birthday this year, Shawna finally got me a machine–the Brother CS-100.  It does all sorts of cool stuff, most of which I will probably never use.

Here’s an in-progress photo from the night before my birthday:

I pieced together the dress Wednesday and this morning.  It seems that I may have gone a little overboard with some edge-stitching, the neckline is a bunched up.  I’m not sure if this is something that will iron out, or whether I’ve done something wrong.  I left a message with my personal sewing hotline, Kim.  I’ll post more as soon as I make a little more progress.

Finally, a day off!

Okay, so I actually had Tuesday off too — but I did work over the weekend!   It’s so nice to go back to spending time with Grammy.  I’ve really missed spending time with Grammy and having “our time”.   It seems like since starting my job, I’ve been way too wrapped up in either getting pregnant or trying to take 350 photos a day of intersections!!

(Does this look like filler or what?   Of course, just so we can post another advertisement - so we can make $$!)

I love log cabins!

So, I guess instead of making fun of Margot — I’ve decided to join in on trying to make a dime!   That’s why I’m going to talk about log cabins!   Yesterday when I was driving from Frankfort, NY to Norwich, NY I passed a log homes builder and I must say those new log cabins are amazing.   They look so clean, fresh, and natural.   I would absolutely love to live in the woods, with a stream in the background, and have a log cabin.   I mean it just makes sense if you want to be “part of your surroundings” to have something that fits in - instead of a stick built house or even one of the cheesy manufactured houses.

Thank you, Mama!

So Margot put me up to posting tonight so that she could make another damn money making scheme.  BTW, we have yet to see any money from this whole thing and I think we’ve been whoring out our website for nothing!

What better thing for me to write about than our wonderful girl - Grammy!   Lately, she’s been so funny.   If I do something she instantly says as loud as she can “THANK YOU, MAMA!”.   The other day Grammy was being a not-so-good girl and I asked if she wanted me to count to 3 (that’s what happens before she gets timeout).   She nodded yes, then started counting “1 - 2 -3″ - then she ran to timeout!

Now, what fun is being a parent if your whole “time-out” powers have been taken away?!?

The other day while Graem was eating some of the dog food I heard her say “Thank you, Bailey”.   I guess she was thanking the dog for sharing her food?

A few days ago while Graem was with me and we were driving back into town from one of our many “journeys” we saw some horses.   I had some leftover apples and bananas in the car.   So we decided to pull over see the horses and feed them our leftovers!   Graem loved seeing the horses and giving them the apples and kept saying “Horses eating apples!!”.   We tried the bananas too - but the horses weren’t too fond of them.   When we had run out of various food Graem become very upset and kept signing for “more” and screaming “APPLES”.    I promised her that we would go back and feed the horses at a later date!

Tonight we went down the street to the farm and were looking for the horses.   Unfortunately, the horses had gone “night night” and appeared to be in the barn.

Tomorrow I have off and we’ll go back and see if the horses want to eat our apples!
