A Tale of Two Mamas

Trying to keep someone IN timeout

Happy belated Mother’s Day!

We had a great Mothers’ Day weekend. It was supposed to rain all weekend, but we got a good amount of sun both Saturday and Sunday. We went to a little yard sale at the church up the road on Saturday, went to the Festival of Flowers in town, and took a little tour of the community nursery school. Grammy loved the nursery school: she watched the older kids playing, found a little doll sofa that she tried to sit on, sat in the big kid chair and table, and played with a ball toy she found. After picking up a roadside chicken barbecue, and looking at a house for sale in town (way out of our price range but beautiful!), we came home to put Grammy to nap. Shawna and I did a little bit of yard work, and by the time we had washed up to take our nap, Grammy woke up. No nap for us!

On Sunday, I went in to work for a little bit, and came home to a happy baby and a sleepy mama. Grammy and I hung out for a while on our own so Shawna could sleep. Then we all got dressed and went to Sangam for lunch. Graem was pretty amenable up until the end when she ran out on the check–she didn’t pick up the tab this time! We followed up our lunch with a trip to the playground at Cass Park. Graem had a blast climbing up the stairs and sliding down all the slides–she had no fear! It was great for her to work out all her climbing energy someplace other than her high chair.

It was a great weekend for new words: “pee pee,” “shirt,” “hello,” “me,” and “bye bye, Lu Lu” were the highlights. Tonight she almost said “puppy”–it came out more like “pAhp-pAhp,” a slight variation on “pop pop.” Oh and she’s been singing the ABC song a lot lately! Saturday night on the way home from Laura & Lydia’s, we had to sing it about 23 times. When she sings it, it goes more along the lines of “ABCDEFG,BBBBBBB…” She sounds great.
